Turks & Caicos Beaches

This relatively unknown destination is a well kept secret. Mention Turks & Caicos to anyone they’ll likely to say, "Turks and who?" Then mention Providentiales, the island tourist center of this Caribbean nation, and you'll likely get a blank stare. But who knew of Cancun a few years back and look at it today. That’s not to say that 'Provo', as they call it, will be the next Cancun. But it might become the next Anguilla.

The cornerstone of this new found warm weather spa is Grace Beach, with miles of soft sand every bit as good as you’ll find anywhere in the Caribbean. Although most of the resorts on the island are here, don’t expect to find any crowds, because this backwater paradise simply hasn’t been discovered by the general public yet. This is your opportunity to be the first in your circle to squiggle your toes in virgin sand.

- "Go anywhere this winter?"
- "Who, us? Oh, we hopped down to ‘Provo’ for the holidays. Charming place."

Then watch them die with wonder and envy.

On an island this size it isn’t hard to get around. A bicycle will do if you don’t mind a little exercise. Or hitch a ride with one of the locals, 'belongers' as they call themselves. You’ll not find a friendlier group of folks in all the Caribbean.

If you really want to turn heads back home with that winter tan, relax on one of the small islets off the coast of Provo with resorts that cater to the rich and famous set.
