Ibiza Beaches

‘Como va, hermano?’ Time to start practicing your Spanish if you’re going to swing with the regulars at the all-night clubs in this European hot spot. This small island near Majorca has become summer party central for most of the continent’s younger generation. But if you’re past thirty and ancient in the vernacular of the younger set, don’t let that stop you from visiting the Mediterranean's newest fun holiday venue.

There’s room for everyone on this trendy isle and the variety of Ibiza beaches should please anyone’s taste. If you’re still lusty enough to party 24/7, then you’ll probably want to set up camp near Playa d'en Bossa or Las Salinas. Here you’ll find all the hedonism you can handle, including the endless beat of music in the company of like minded souls.

There’s even a rumor that the local policia impounded certain acoustical equipment from an Ibiza beach bar here due to its unsettling resonance in nearby areas. We only report what we hear. No pun intended. In the same vicinity you’ll find Playa des Cavallet, a gay friendly Ibiza beach and naturist playground where you can party clothes-free. Bring plenty of sunscreen for those areas not accustomed to the sun.

For laid-back over thirty types, head to the outlying Ibiza beaches spread around the rest of the island. Here, in small coves you’ll find picture perfect beaches in a more relaxed setting. Try Cala Conta, Cala Bassa, Cala Salada and Cala Vadella for coves sheltered from the seasonal trade winds. Stay at Portinatx and Cala San Vicente for a nice resort atmosphere. Or spend an afternoon reading a book at Niu Blau, a quiet neighborhood retreat visited mainly by locals.
